Testimonials

We hired Ric to do a modeling photoshoot for my companion when she was 25 years old. She had always wanted to get some modeling shots done but we didn’t know who to hire or how to go about it? Ric was referred to us by a close friend. We liked his work so much it led to two more modeling sessions over a one-year period. Here is one of the photos below.

The photos are INCREDIBLE! His eye for detail is truly amazing. The photos are not glam photos, they are ART! He captured my companion in ways we never imagined possible. The photos have also provided her with a library of memories of her beauty while still in her youth. We are forever grateful to Ric for what he produced for us and his professionalism in every facet of his work. We highly recommend hiring him!

Ric Maniquis is both a professional photographer and a hobbyist. He aims at capturing ordinary scenes and turns them into contemplative, abstract, and at times, surreal images. He has held a number of solo exhibitions and joined several group shows over the last 25 years.

A photographer by profession, he shoots portraits, weddings, corporate photographs, and product advertising. Ric is also a musician - he plays guitar and sings jazz, folk, rock, and rhythm and blues. Equally devoted to both photography and music, he approaches these art forms with a sensibility seen only in one who is both artist and musician.

I am familiar with Ric Maniquis' work both as a fine art and documentation/event photographer - and he delivers exceptionally as both. I first worked with him 23 years ago when he was commissioned to document The Search for Miss Baguio 2000 which I was directing and I was very much impressed by his professionalism - he worked quietly, barely noticeable when he did and he was able to capture not only images that would grace the pages of local publications but significant moments that would have escaped most mediocre documentarists' attention. The result was a collection of photos that included images that captured the process and told the story of the production and ones that blurred the lines between documentation and fine art photography. In 2014, our then art venue, The Living Room, hosted Maniquis' exhibit/performance which featured a concert and an exhibition of his art photography, including pieces from his Unscene and Gentle Thoughts series. The collection in this exhibit truly showed Maniquis' unique artistic sense and skill as a photographer. For his Unscene collection, he zoomed in on details from everyday scenes and objects which resulted in captivating abstract images while Gentle Thoughts were masterfully captured bokeh photographs of flora. Naturally, when my daughter got married (December, 2022), Maniquis was my first and only choice. And once again, the silent master delivered images that truly captured the story and emotions of that special day as well as ones that are worthy of being framed and displayed as fine art.

Kuya Ric is quite a legend when it comes to photography. I'm sure I am not alone when I say that he has beautifully captured our family's milestones through the years. For me, it's actually been 35 years! I would go to his studio when I was 12 to get some great looking portraits. He was our wedding photographer and up until now, I still look forward to having photo sessions with him. His patience and calmness always make me at ease in front of his camera. He can communicate well with me on how he envisions the photos to be and the output is always so beautiful and creative. His passion and experience are unparalleled!
